How the 411 Vacation Rental Auction Works

All rental auctions have a starting amount which is set by the property owner based on the minimum amount an owner is willing to receive to rent their place for the listed number of rental days. As an example, if the owner has a starting bid of $300 and you are the first bidder, you must place a bid of at least $300. You may bid higher than the starting amount, say $ 600, but the current bid will stay at the starting bid amount ($300) until another renter bids against you. If no one ever bids against you, then you will win the bid and only pay the starting bid amount ($300) for the rental. Your maximum bid is always kept hidden until someone bids higher than you

If another renter decides to bid against you, then we will automatically bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid amount in at least $10.00 increments. If the second bidder places a maximum bid of $450.00, then your bid will automatically be raised to $460.00.

If a third bidder places a bid for $700.00 this bidder becomes the high bidder at $610.00 and you will receive an email that you have been out bid. You can then add a new bid of at least $ 610, however If you bid an amount lower than $ 700 you will be instantly outbid by the third bidders hidden maximum bid. If you really want to win the rental, just keep increasing your bid until you are the current bidder. The bidding will close at the end of the day of the posted closing date.
